When relisting stock items (inventory), there can be some confusion as to where the information is stored.

For instance, this is Inventory #56 and it has listed 10086 and 10100. If we were to go in here to Prepare a New Item, the title, description, photos and shipping information are NOT saved under Inventory #56. It is all under the item numbers. Right now, 10086 is selected as the Relist Source. When you click Prepare New Item, essentially we Sell Similar from 10086.

If you want to make changes to the information, photos or price, you would make all edits after Preparing New Item. Once you have listed the item live to eBay, you can make this new item the Relist Source for future listings.
